Apple Magic Mouse

$70.00 Released October, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Multi-touch capable touch surface - utilizes figure gestures just like an Apple trackpad. No scroll wheel - won't break, easy to clean. Attractive aesthetic.

The Cons:Short and narrow - difficult to use comfortably (designed with aesthetics in mind rather than ergonomics). Does not come with rechargable battery. Have to replace the AA's. Not compatible with operating systems other than Mac OSX.

The new iMac comes with the Magic Mouse, which is wireless and works almost like the touch pad of a laptop. It is one big button and is touch-sensitive, with the capabilities of Apple’s laptop touch pads.

Where to Buy

It even has multitouch controls. Scroll up and down on Web sites by dashing your finger up and down on the top of the mouse. Scroll through screens in Safari or iPhoto by swiping two fingers left to right. Hold down the Control key and scroll with one finger to zoom in or out the screen. However, the Magic Mouse takes a little bit of getting used to. It is difficult to keep the mouse in place, particularly when swiping with two fingers. It is also rather narrow and doesn't work with Windows PC and the functions are non-customizable. But it pairs easily with Macs and is ambidextrous.

Features:

  • Movement detection technology: laser
  • 2 alkaline batteries installed
  • Connectivity technology: wireless
  • Orientation: right and left
  • OS Required / Type: Apple Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later
